Story

The rider behind the bikes — how it all began, where it went, and why we build the way we do.

Where It All Began

My journey into bikes didn’t start with racing.

It started with being the fat kid at school.

I tried football. Rugby. Anything I was told would “fix it”.

I hated all of it.

Then, at nine years old, I got a bike for my birthday.

No pressure. No structure. Just freedom.

That freedom turned into obsession.

Could I clear that jump?
Could I go faster?
Could I build something bigger?

I kept pushing it.

And I kept breaking bikes.

Eventually, my parents had enough. They bought a proper second-hand frame from an ex-pro and took it to a bike shop with one instruction:

“Build him something he won’t break.”

That bike changed everything.

At 13, I entered my first downhill race.

I came last.

Next race? Second to last.

But I was hooked.

A year later, I raced the full series, and took silver.

The Journey

From Rider to Racer

Racing escalated quickly.

Regional to national. Weekends on serious tracks. Then Canada — riding in places like Whistler, where everything is bigger, faster, and less forgiving.

And through all of it?

I kept breaking bikes.

There’s no safety net in this sport. No big budgets. No instant replacements.

So I learned to fix them myself.

Then I met Mark — an engineer and master wheel builder.

He didn’t just fix bikes. He understood them.

Spoke tension. Axle spacing. Component harmony.

That’s where it clicked:

Building a bike isn’t about parts.

It’s about systems working together — with the rider at the centre.

I don’t race anymore.

But I’m more obsessive now than I’ve ever been.

Now it’s about refining the craft. Understanding the engineering. Building bikes that give other people that same feeling I found at nine years old.

Freedom. Control. Possibility.

Only now — built properly.

Built to last.
